Rooted GS4 running Kitkat4.4.4 Now lock/sleep won't work and screen stays on! Ideas??

Thanks in advance for any helpful response. I recently rooted my AT&T Galaxy S4 SGH i337 running kitkat 4.4.4. Now the power button won't lock the screen or make the phone sleep.:-\ In fact the phone won't sleep at all even after the settings were reduced to sleep after 15sec inactivity. Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions to fix the problem?

I would try a factory reset. If all else fails just flash another rom. Preferably cyanogenmod 11 or an alpha build of cyanogenmod 12 lollipop
