Does your Galaxy S4 light up when you receive a text or email?

I know my S3 would light up when a text was received but I can't see to make the S4 do the same. I could also preview the text message at that time.

Text yes. Email using GMail I don't think so.

Hello

Turning on LED indicators is straightforward:
1. Settings>My device>LED indicator
2. Check the ones you want to use.

Note ~ these indicators only appear when the screen (but not phone, of course) is off eg when screen automatically switches off after certain time period or power button is used to lock screen.

Yes I get that blinking led. I am speaking of a preview of the actual message lighting up when received.

Ah, sorry I misunderstood.

I'm not sure if the screen lights up - you can get a sound but I don't think the screen does.

But this may be due to the implementation of the "S view" cover. When a message or notification arrives, the "window pane" lights up and you see a notification. That might explain why there's a difference between the s3 and s4 screen light up implementation.

Third party SMS apps will wake the screen when receiving a text message. I use GoSMS and programmed it to do that. I'm sure some 3rd party e-mail apps will do the same thing.

Yeah my screen lights up when I get a message... Idk where it would be in settings it has always done that... I use stock messenger

It should light up for sms. That way you can point near the screen and read your message using hover.

Mine does not show up either, just a blinking blue light. And yes I am on Sprint

Same here on Sprint. I'm using Nova Launcher and Widget Locker though, so I'm not sure if that had any effect or not. Either way, I just get the blue led when I get a text, no screen turning on. The preview of the message shows up in the notification bar, but that's it.

I think I just found what we are looking for. When your in the texting screen, press the menu button and go to settings. In settings your can check the box for the pop up message for the lock screen.
Hope this helps.

btw I did try sms popup from the app store and it works great!

I tried this but it does not wake the phone. It only displays the message in the lock screen.

For now I'm using sms popup

Did anyone figure this out yet? I hate pressing the home screen button everytime I get a text to wake up phone.
