different frequencies. On my router a beklin dual band N router I use the 2.4 GHz setting because it has longer range. If I was closer in to the router and selected 5 GHz with a strong signal I could possibly get faster speeds. The S4 can connect to either but not at the same time. The app wifi analyzer can tell you which signal is strongest for your phone, then connect to that network.

What the difference? Which one should I use?

Make sure you know your router's protocol.

If it is only 802.11g, it will only operate on the 2.4GHz band.

802.11n supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
