Galaxy S4: Screen Mirroring with Vizio Smart TV

I have question about the screen mirroring. Can the S4 screen mirror with any smart bluray or smart TV or does it have to be Samsung? I am looking at getting a Smart TV and was wondering if I need to only look at Samsung brand. I would prefer a Vizio and wondered if anyone has successfully mirrored their S4 to their Vizio Smart TV. Thanks.

Samsung Tv is one of the most likely choices. I have a Vizio Smart TV and I can't do that.

Samsung makes a wireless hub that you can hook up to any HDTV with an empty HDMI port:

Samsung WI-FI All-Share Cast Hub, Wireless HDMI Display Adapter (Black)

It's an extra $100 expense, but it might be worth it to get the TV you want. Heck, it could even be cheaper to do it that way depending on the TV's you're comparing.

Screen MIRRORING is not available outside Samsung products. However, file sharing across DLNA-compatible devices is; that is, you can share photos, music, and videos and play them in your Vizio SmartTV provided you're in the same local (wired or wireless) network and your router doesn't block the necessary ports for that.

BTW, I might be wrong, but I saw the specs on a newer 2013 Samsung TV and it seems to support DirectWiFi, which would mean you'd no longer need a local network to pair your TV with your phone, just set them up to communicated via peer-to-peer WiFi (skipping the router but leaving out Internet access other than your phone's). Another VERY COOL feature IMHO is screen cloning (Smart View). With it, you can mirror YOUR TV IN YOUR PHONE. Great when you desperately need to go to the bathroom but your movie is in the climax scene hehe

I'd try this out before you rely on it. I haven't done it a lot, but my experience is that it's ridiculously slow. I could have some setting wrong or something, but when using DLNA on a smart TV or a Roku it's taken a super long time for anything to respond or load.

I've seen the Samsung work on YouTube just not a vizio. I want to be able to screen mirror so I can use movie apps on my phone to watch on TV. I went to Walmart and tried to sync up but their TV's were all in display mode like always and I couldn't figure out how to setup the smart sync. I'm gonna try best buy as they hopefully should have a little more experience with this. I definitely want to try it before I buy it though cause I have heard the same thing.

Which apps are you using? You may be better off with some sort of media server or set top box rather than screen mirroring.

Some Best Buy's apparently have little Samsung stores in them. If you can find one of those there's a better chance they'll be set up for the demonstration.

Remember that the Chromecast from Google is already selling and it cost $39, it does the same and I think even more than the device from Samsung.

Again, Screen MIRRORING is only supported for Samsung TV's. You won't be able to get it to work on a Vizio, only file sharing.

IF the app itself supports DLNA streaming (acting as a media server for video) THEN you could use it with a Vizio, but that's not exactly screen mirroring, it's only the app broadcasting its contents to the TV.

There's probably something wrong with your network configuration. Remember to set the router to a free, not-so-congested channel and to give it enough speed (usually set it to 'n' standard would do). Make sure the router doesn't block the necessary ports and, if possible, that it gives unrestricted, priority access to both your phone and TV for this.

I was wondering the same thing. I can connect my galaxy s4 to my vizio TV on with YouTube. I can also connect it to my lg smart TV, so its not just samsung. I Can't seem to find out why on the vizio it only works with YouTube videos.

Happy holidays everybody! So... yeah no screen mirroring without wires for me. I realize that's what the OP originally wanted, though an Amazon purchase of the HDMI adapter for the phone and an HDMI cable and I'm screen mirroring with any HDMI TV! Using a BT keyboard, too; all is really cool! Peace

Id go with a Samsung tv better picture quality then a vizio by far 1080p with 240hz and if not a samsung only way is to buy allshare cast hub

Not true I have a galaxy s3 too u can use the mhl on a vizio tv for some reason don't work for the s4 I think they need fix bull ****
