[MEGATHREAD] "Failed to update software. Use SKT USIM card to update."

Can't update my phone because I keep getting this message, "Failed to update software. Use SKT USIM card to update."
How do I get around this or where can I get this card? I bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 Advanced (SHV-E330S) on Ebay from Korea.

Just had the same problem, turned the phone off, took out the sim card, then turned it back on without a sim card in and suddenly it was able to get the update over wifi

I just switched from iOs to Android and its been a huge upgrade in my opinion. There is one problem that keeps occuring though and that is the following error:"Failed to update software. Use SKT USIM card to update". I bought the s5 on eBay from Korea. Does anyone know what to do about this?

The issue seems to be because it's a Korean model and I'm guessing that you are not using it on a Korean cell carrier. A quick search revealed two possible solutions; 1) remove the sim card and attempt the update over wifi and 2) some have reported a factory data restore as correcting the issue. I also found an app in the Play store that says it corrects this issue however, it was made for the Galaxy S3 on ICS and has not been updated in a while.

I am also getting the same error "Failed to update software. Use SKT USIM card to update." for Samsung Galaxy Note (SHV-E160S). Unable to update as suggested above.

I think S4 Korean version SHV-E330S/K/L are locked to Korean carrier sim card.
But you can still update OTA via Kies on your PC
It works for me everytime

Im using galaxy s4 lte a. I cant update the software
Shv-e330s and then I try to take it off my sim card to update again but didnt work. the software has been modified. what is that means?? Pls help me.
