Samsung Galaxy S4 - MMS preview shows recipients instead of sender

When my phone downloaded and installed the latest android update several weeks ago, the preview notifications for when I receive group MMS messages has changed. Previously when it displayed a preview of a group message I had received it would display the name of the contact who had sent the message. However since the update the preview will instead show the names of everyone on the group thread, rather than the actual sender, so I can't tell who sent the message until I unlock my phone and go to the messaging app to read it. My SMS messages however still display correctly. I have looked through the messenger settings but can't find anything that seems to affect how the preview displays. Any ideas?
