It comes OTA from your carrier. So depending who your service provider is depends when you'll get your update.
I'm with Rogers, got mine about a week and a half ago, and have noticed slight improvements with none of the issues so many people are complaining about.

I think Verizon is going to wait for 4.4.3 to do the update. I think they want to avoid the bugs. It would be nice for some official announcement from them.

Did they give a timeframe?

A whole lot of countries still haven't gotten the update yet. I live in South Africa, still no update, so I flashed my phone to 4.4.2 through Sammobile and using Odin, I'm only experiencing a random lockscreen bug where my home screen wallpaper flashes for a split second and then takes me back to the screen I was when I locked my phone. Everything's running 100% smooth and requires no rooting. Hope this helps. :)

Note: If it's a CDMA version or if it's locked to a carrier, you might be stuck on waiting for VZW's update.

Yeah, I was thinking half the forum was complaining about it, and I can't understand why not getting it is a problem. :)

That's not necessarily true. Yes, a lot of people are saying they have issues now with the SD card, but several people have replied saying they don't. I'm one of them (luckily, it would seem, according to the forum).

I have had no problems reading or writing to the SD card. The only problem I had was with the lock screen lagging after I updated, but that was resolved by simply restarting my phone.

Me neither (t-mobile, S4, not rooted)
As I was advised in another thread--if you're not running apps off the card and the apps have been updated to work with KitKat, it should be fine. So, for instance, PowerAmp has no trouble reading my mp3 files on the card, in the same location where they were.

Some have also advised taking the card out for the 1st reboot after the installation.

I see that some Note3's SD card functions are not affected by the KitKat update....I wonder why? Does anyone use Beweather and does it work with the KitKat update. I see that there's been no update for BeWeather to work with KitKat.

If the app isnt updated for use with kit kat then mostlikely no not until the dev updates it

Thanks for the info (kinda figured that). I use Custom Beweather sets daily (and other SD card applications), so there is no reason for me to update to KitKat....its really not that big of a deal for me as my Note3 is running in prestine condition with JellyBean. With this so called security issue with SD cards make me think, if it's that big of a deal, why just NOT use a memory cards. "if it ain't broke don't fix it"....meh
