Help with group messaging texts

I'm always getting put into group chats and a particular person in the chat has the same phone as I do which is the galaxy s4, but for some reason whenever he sends a text within the group chat, it never appears in the actual chat and comes up as a separate conversation with me on my phone. The other members are iphone users and were the only two galaxys. On his phone everyone's texts show up in one place, so it looks like its just me having the problem and I don't know why its like that. I'm not sure if its a specific setting on either his phone or mine that can somehow fix this so that his texts actually show up in the chat and not just to me. Also, when he does send a text it still shows up as MMS and "no subject", but just not in the actual chat and instead in a separate conversation with me.

I dont think the stock app can handle group messages. I use GO SMS Pro as my default SMS/MMS app. It handles group messaging well from my experiences with it. You will have to install the group messaging plugins so that the app can handle the group messaging.

Ok, I'll give that a shot! But the thing is, it only happens with this group chat, I have another one that sometimes get sent and everyone's texts appear fine in the one big chat. Even my other friend has my phone too and is apart of this other chat, and her texts appear actually in it and not in a separate conversation
