car charger not keeping up with udsge

I have my phone charging while using it for gps and such. Im using more power then the charger is producing. Is there anything i can do about this?

Get a higher amperage car charger. Also turn of any features you are not using.

im using GPS with nothing else open...how much amperage will i need, or how would i find out how much amps i would need?

A 2.1 Amp charger. If you get the kind that you use your own USB cable instead of it being built in then get a charge only cable, not one for data transfer. Keep your screen brightness low as possible if you are leaving it on to view the navigation route (keep it light enough to view of course).
