Group Conversation & Individual Messages - Galaxy s4 - Tmobile

So my friend has the same phone as me but his carrier is verizon and were both in the same group chat and for some reason on his phone the chat comes up with the option to see all the messages (group conversation) and the other to see just separate ones (individual messages) however, I don't have this option and whenever he sends a text in the group chat it always comes up in a separate conversation with me but has MMS written underneath
Not sure what's up with this but I also wondered if it had to do with our different carries since I have tmobile and him verizon

If anyone can please help that'd be much appreciated! Very annoying to deal with this for I have been for a few months
