Why won't my Samsung Galaxy s4 turn on or charge?

My Samsung Galaxy s4 doesn't turn on or charge. For a while now I have been putting off updates, and I don't know if that has anything to do with it. It was working fine for a long time, but when my battery was at around 30% one day, a message popped up about something like my charger not being right for it, and very soon died at around 28%. The charger had been working on it for about half a year. I tried it with another charger, but nothing happened. It vibrated and came up with the Samsung sing briefly, then went black. Now it will not vibrate ever, or show any sign of life. I saw that other people were having bulged batteries. Not my case. Only thing I can think of is that I'm a frequent runner, and sometimes run with my phone in the rain. Please help!
