cleanig up phone

I am lending my son my S4 while he waits for a phone upgrade, how do I proceed to give him a fairly clean phone. i want my pictures ,contacts and some files. how do i proceed? not really sure where to start?

Back up your pictures onto your computer, or up to a cloud service--you should be doing that regularly anyway, if you care about them.

Are the contacts associated with your Google account? If so, they're synced with your Google Contacts in the cloud, and will sync automatically to any other phone you log into. If they're associated with the Phone account, then use Kies to back them up: How do I Back Up and Restore my device using Kies 3? : Cell Phones | Samsung

Which files do you want to save for yourself?

After backing up or syncing any of the information that's important to you, then do a full factory reset, and then when you set the phone up again, use your son's Google account, not yours (unless you're ok with your son utilizing your account, and seeing your email, calendar events, contacts, etc.).
