Why is my world clock screen popping up during phone calls?

When I am on a phone call, the phone begins making noises like applications are being selected/opened, etc. When I take my phone away from my ear, I notice that the screen is now showing times around the world. I've noticed the alarm clock icon at the top of the screen and assume it's being touched by my ear while talking. I've tried to remove it without luck. The continual noises during a call are so annoying. Is there a way to make it stop?

The screen may be turning on due to shifting the phone. You can lock your screen after your call connects.
