Aggravating problem with playing music

So I'm trying to listen to music at work on my headphones, and about every five minutes it just stops. I look and it's inexplicably paused itself. I have to press play again to get it going. Another few minutes and it does it again. It's driving me crazy. Anyone know what's going on and how to stop it?

have you tried using other headphone?
It could be faulty headphones and it may be sending a pause signal to the phone.

I doubt it's the headphones. They're excellent Sony ones.

do the headphones have play/pause buttons? it could be so that the buttons are not compatible with the s4 and thus its receives a pause signal. it may be worth a try using other headphones.

also when you listen without headphones does the problem occur?

The headphones have no buttons on them. And I've never heard the phone stop like this when not using the headphones. Except last night, when I wanted to turn the phone face down on the counter so that the speaker would be face up, and every time I flipped it, the song would pause. Really aggravating.
