Galaxy S4 Reception Problem - what's wrong?

My husband has an Iphone, I switched to Samsung Galaxy S4. We are sitting beside each other in the same room. I have one tiny bar and he has full bars. ???
Is there a setting or something else wrong?

Welcome to Android Central! How is the actual phone reception when you're in a call or using the internet over mobile data? The algorithm used for the signal strength indicator might differ between devices.

The reception is very poor. When at home never above 2 bars when husband is full bars. When I check the signal strength it says 'very strong'. Even at work it keeps cutting out and I have to keep signing in again for wifi.

oh if I switch from wifi to mobile data it's better.

Oh, are you talking about wi-fi reception? I thought you were talking about cellular reception.

Actually it's both. Sorry ya the bars for cell and the wifi is rally bas as well.

Might be a hardware issue. Is the phone brand new, or did you get it used or refurbished? If it's new, bring it back to the store and show them the problem. Ask for a replacement. Otherwise, you should consider sending it to Samsung if still under warranty.
