Why are other peoples personal photos on my camera roll

Ive had someone elses personal photos show up on my galaxy 5. She lives in another country where i lost my iPhone S4. I got my galaxy a week later back in Australia so at no time were both phones in my possesion. How is this possible?

Welcome to Android Central! Was it an iPhone 4S, or a Galaxy S4? If someone found your phone and started using it to take photos, and if that phone is automatically backing up photos to your Google account, then they'll show up on your S5 as well, as long as it's also logged into the same Google account.
