I noticed this morning that my settings button was removed from Apps and then I found the settings cog at the top of the pull-down. However, nothing happens after tapping the settings cog. I've rebooted twice with no difference.

Anyone else experiencing this issue? Any suggestions?

So far I've only noticed settings locking up when I hit "wallpaper". Haven't played with it much yet, don't like the new appearance of everything...

Does this happen in Safe Mode as well? https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28456

Are you getting any "Screen Overlay" errors? Do you have any screen dimming apps installed?

Tried Safe Mode with no change. I have a battery saving app, Battery Guru, but it only dims the screen when the battery falls below 20%.

Thanks for your suggestions. Any others would be appreciated. I'd hate to upgrade a great phone just because I can't get the settings to open up.

Next step would be a factory reset, despite the hassle.

If the factory reset doesn't do anything, then I wonder if there's a problem with the firmware. You could try reinstalling it via Smart Switch (SmartSwitch: Install & update or replace firmware) or Kies (http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...amsung-emergency-recovering-samsung-kies.html). If those don't work, you could try manually flashing the stock ROM using Odin: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...w-flash-stock-rom-via-odin-new-interface.html

Thanks again. I will reluctantly try a factory reset and the other steps, but probably not until this weekend.

I noticed that in addition to the settings cog on the drop down not working, the other pull down buttons cannot be used to open their respective settings (bluetooth, location, etc.). They do still work to simply toggle on and off.

Follow-up: I decided to take the phone the the Samsung Experience guys at Best Buy a couple weeks ago. He connected the phone his computer and it showed their android version did not match the one on the phone - they only had lollipop. He said come back in a week or so, which I did. New guy hooked it up and pushed the update again and it worked. Now everything is how is should be without the need for me to do a hard reset.

B. Diddy, thanks for the advice. I tried everything short of the hard reset because of the hassle factor. Since the phone was working, I decided to give Best Buy some time to get the newest update.
