I am new to Samsung, having recently acquired a "Galaxy S5 mini" via a friend who visited China. On power up, it says, "POWERD by Android"? "Powerd"? Really? Is that Samsung, or does this mean that it's not actually a Samsung but a Chinese copy?

Please advise!

With thanks & regards,
Tony :)

Yup, that's too strange. It's probably a fake. I doubt a real Samsung phone would have that word misspelled.

Oh, designers and programmers would go into an uproar if the power-up / booting screen had a header misspelled. Yeah, Red flags there, buddy.

China is notorious for selling Samsung fakes.

You can check the IMEI number online and see what phone it is registered too. Generally these fakes seem to have Nokia IMEI's.
