Galaxy S5 Mini: does it cache emails?

A

AC Question

My wife recently upgraded to an S5 Mini. We have set it up to use the standard Samsung email app, connecting to our email server using IMAP.

After emails have been downloaded to her desktop PC using POP3, and the emails deleted from the server, those emails are still visible on the S5. Even emails which have never been read on the S5 are still readable. I have verified that those emails are NOT still present on the IMAP server. This behaviour never happened on her old Galaxy S2.

So the question is: where is the S5 getting this data from? Does it cache emails - including the bodies of those that have not even been read? Does it perhaps copy them to somewhere in "the cloud"? Thanks.
