Has anyone worked out how to disable the camera shutter sound on the Australian S5?

I've rooted and tried the following without success

* renamed the camera ogg files in system/media/audio/ui
* tried the silencer apps on Google Play
* added the line true to others.XML and features.XML (adding this line adds the option for shutter sound to the camera settings but pressing the option doesn't change the setting)

Has anyone had any success?

On my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3, I used "enforced stream silencer". Doesn't require root. If you are interested, do a Google search, it should be the first result.

  1. Long press power button
  2. Select vibrate
  3. Profit..... er, I mean take pictures without shutter sound.

Works without root (I am using Verizon variant)

Thanks for the replies.

I've tried all of these things but the shutter sound is still there :(

I'm using the Vodafone Australia version.

Any other ideas?

I tried all these too. I even moved all the sound files to an SD card and removed it. The sound was still there even after I restarted the phone. I now use Camera FV-5 app as my default camera with phone set to vibrate. Now it feels just like my old iPhone.

do not remove the camera sound file instead add a silent sound file and make sure it is in .ogg format.
You need to root first.

Answer:

Need root

In system\csc file called customer.xml

Use root explorer and I tried with ES Explorer and wouldn’t work

Find <ShutterSound>on</ShutterSound> and change it to off

Worked for me with SM-g900i. People saying they can mute the phone and that works have a different variant of the phone.
The SM-G900i is the Oceania version and has no way to turn off the sound, unlike versions from the UK or US I believe.
You can put a custom ROM on and trip knox or use Mobile Odin and some other methods, but to be honest using the stock ROM with Wanam Exposed is the way to go.

Super late reply, but doesn't oversea version have the option to simply turn it off?
