S5 Screen Goes Black

So I have had my S5 for about 10 days now. This has only happened twice since i got it. I will lock the screen, and when i go to unlock it the screen is black. The soft touch buttons come on, and so does my notification light if i have any notifications. The only way i correct this is to take off my outterbox which is a pain, take out the battery, and turn it back on. I don't want to do the factory reset if i don't have to. Is this something that can be fixed in a firmware update? This happens without warning and bugs me. Anyone else have this problem? Another one of my friends has a GS3, and had the same problem. I realize this is a totally different phone, but maybe it's something with samsung devices in general.

Same thing happened to me, but somewhat more frequently
It only happens when i was trying to run an app (specifically zenonia 5), but it failed to run and causes brief lag. If the screen were to be turned off then sometimes it goes black when i turn it back on, only for half a min or so though
