This thread will act as a reference — curated by the Ambassadors — for common issues encountered with the Galaxy S5. If you feel something should be listed here, drop me a private message and we'll take a look. :) If you're looking for help fixing the problem, the community is a stronger resource than any one person — post a thread!

From the blog, these are the first five things you need to do with your new Galaxy S5:

  1. Use a password of some sort
  2. Sign up for (or sign into) the Samsung App Store.
  3. Turn off those blasted Galaxy S5 sound effects.
  4. Pop in an SD card.
  5. Make sure you get all the plastic off the phone.

And a tip from launch day: looking for faster response from the Home button? It'll come at the cost of disabling the S Voice home button shortcut; simply deselect the "Open via the home key" option in the S Voice settings.

Here are the posts in this thread:

  1. The Download Booster feature is missing on my GS5!
  2. Can't find the menu button? Using a legacy app that requires it?
  3. Camera failed on your Galaxy S5?

Camera failed on your Galaxy S5?

Some have found success by clearing data on the camera app and rebooting, others by uninstalling third-party camera apps. Unfortunately, for many it seems that a complete camera hardware failure is a likely the cause, and you'll need to look at getting a warranty replacement.

To contact Samsung about this issue, call 1-888-987-4357. If you purchased a device through a carrier, contact them. Verizon's statement:

Galaxy S5 customers who see "Warning: Camera Failed" please contact @VZWsupport & we'll work to resolve it, including replacing the device.
