Default Unable to save downloaded music to music player

I can download a song on Galaxy S5, but it won't let me save to a music player for future listening. Went to Verizon store and they couldn't figure it out either.
    Any suggestions?

Songs should be SYNCED using Windows Media Player rather than being downloaded. Syncing connects the song to all your music apps.

Trying to download a song from email. When I do it with my Samsung tablet, it downloads and gives me a choice of music player apps to save it to. When I download song from email using Galaxy S5, it will download song, but won't let me save to a music player app. Wife has same problem with her S5 and Verizon store did as well.
Worked fine on my Galaxy S2 as well.

Welcome to Android Central! So the music file is an attachment on an email? When you download it, does it show up in the Downloads app (or the Downloads folder, if you're using a file manager app)? If so, then use the file manager to copy or move that music file from the Downloads folder to your Music folder. If your Samsung player has a Refresh option, then select it--otherwise, it will presumably update its library on its own.

So you have an mp3 as an attachment to an email ?

I think what is happening is that the application you pick is being used to play the song, not download it.

I'd just save the attachment , put it on your SD card, or if you don't have one, save the file to the music folder. The music app will automatically find it and you'll be able to listen.
You might need/want to download the ES File Explorer app to do this.

Well, you mau have have something here. The application it always picks to "play" the song is Chrome. You are correct, it will let me play the song, but not "download" it or save it to a music player. The song is highlighted in blue in the email. I click on it and it brings up a tab in Chrome which allows me to play the song, but I can't save it or do anything with it. I can download the ES file Explorer app if you think that will fix the problem.

Found the problem. The sender of song is using DROPBOX. What would happen when I clicked on song in email is that a DROPBOX tab would pop up in Chrome to play the song. The way to save it to a music player is to hold down the PLAY ARROW until a save video window pops up. This will save to your designated music player or if you have multiple players, it will give you an option on which one to save it to. Problem solved :-)
