I have no idea what was causing Android OS to kill my battery yesterday but after clearing the cache using the three button method and taking my sim card card, it seems to have settled down.

Can you please explain this method in further detail to an Android newbie like myself.
Thanks in advance.

Turn your phone off.
Hold down the volume up, home and power buttons. When the phones loads, use the volume button to choose 'clear cache partition' (or something like that).
When done, use the volume up button to choose reboot.
Two days on the trot now I think I have my old battery life back!!! Probably a little bit better to be fair

I am seeing the same thing happen to my Galaxy S5, on the Rogers network here in Canada.
Read through this thread and performed these steps:
Boot into recovery mode > wipe cache partition > reboot
Checked settings > go under Connect and Share > disabled NFC, Printing, Screen Mirroring, these were all on. I turned them all off now.
Also disabled Samsung account sync and uninstalled the All Share Dongle S/W Update.
Will see what happens!
