Default A word of warning to all Verizon GS5 users

Some users have reported a potentially fatal camera fault with the device.

The camera would work fine for the few days, and then, would suddenly stop working, showing a "Warning: Camera failed" message.

A reboot would not fix it. Heck, some even reported that even a factory wipe and reset would not fix it, meaning that the only solution is a replacement.

Not sure if this is SW or HW related, but I hope this is fixed soon.

Note that your GS5 may be affected. So don't be alarmed if this occurs.

I am curious if a cache wipe in recovery would fix it.

Apparently, a guy sent in his GS5 to Best Buy to have a Samsung rep fix it.

Apparently, he flashed binary files to it, but it didn't fix it.

I got the "Warning - Camera failed" message, but then I realized I had a "flashlight app" toggled on. Turned it off, then the camera was fine.

I had this warning the other day, but I was able to reboot my phone, and it's working fine now.

Glad you were able to get it fixed.

Well, at least it fixed it for you.

Do look out though. It may happen again.

Details were posted earlier today - Verizons Galaxy S5 plagued with huge bug that has no fix - Yahoo story

IMO it seems to be fairly overhyped - there have only been a few reports from a handful of XDA members and a few reports from here. I recall my GS4 having a similar issue, an app was causing the flash to hang as Chris mentioned didn't take much to resolve.
