Smooth recording setting doesn't stick, keeps reverting to normal

So these days I shoot everything in 60p - using a GoPro Hero 3+ Black and a Canon Vixia HF R400. So naturally since the S5 does 60p I changed that setting. However, unlike every other setting which stays to what I changed it to this setting keeps reverting back to Normal recording mode once I exit out of the camera. Obviously I can explain how this sucks since if I wanted to catch something fast like my dog being a nut I'd have to first switch into that mode and possibly lose the moment. Is there some reason it doesn't stick or some way to make it stick? Or at the very least can someone confirm this option keeps resetting to normal? Thanks.
