Is there a way to add this to the pull down menu? Or the area above it? So it is easier to get to?

Go to settings then notifications. You can add as many as you want.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

Trying to put mobile data in drop down menu for easier access.
I don't leave data on all the time, when I'm shopping, etc.

It depends on the variant. Some s5 have it others don't. To answer your question, there is a way to do it with root looking identical to stock. Without root you can use an app like notification toggles from the play store. My note 3 has it, so it is duplicate, but this is what it looks like. I know this is for the s5,but notification toggles should work for it as well.
