Don't sweat it. You've had the newest phone for six weeks. Isn't that what you wanted?

    Yea, it happens!

But don't worry too much, it has happened to thousands of people, including me and many others here in the forums at some point.

    That's the way with technology.

If you like to get it while is fresh, you pay the "regular" price.
If you wait longer, you'll be able to find some pretty good deals.

I was very lucky. I tried to buy mine through best buy online for $199 but backed out because I wasn't sure what insurance to go with. Two days later I placed my order again and it was down to $99. This was two or three weeks ago. The price only stayed at $99 for a few days. Like I said I was very lucky with my timing.

Price dropping is expected after over a month. I'll take the lost if it means I can have it on day one.

I saw this deal yesterday too. I bought mine from Best Buy though during a promo and only ended up paying $32 cash for mine after I used my $100 gift card, so I don't feel too bad about the price drop.

I got mine 3 weeks ago today. I knew it was the phone I wanted but was a month away from being eligible for an upgrade and I wasn't about to spend $200 for a cell phone. I told my husband I was going to wait till it was $100. I thought that would be months! Then a few days later I see an ad on-line for for the S5 for $99.99. Didn't know how long it would last so I called Verizon thinking they'd let me upgrade early (they used to). Was informed they don't do that any longer. So I asked to be escalated to a supervisor and he let me upgrade. We got the same deal for my husband last Sunday but his contract isn't up till July. They also waved the $30 upgrade fees.

I didn't do so bad with my S5 purchase either.

Got the $30 upgrade fee waived, told them I was going to ditch Verizon if they insisted on that and since I had 5 phones on my share plan, that didn't take more than about 1 minute to get done.

Then they gave me an $85 credit for being a loyal customer of 20 something years, and then Best Buy gave me a credit for a few bucks. All in all, I did okay and I don't regret getting my S5 on day 1 at all.

the quality of phones bought at regular price may be better because the seller may want to get rid of repackaged phones during sale period.

I bought two S5's at 600. ea and a S3 mini for my grandson 250. I'm on Verizon no contract. I have to go with Verizon because I have a vacation home in Colorado and Verizon is the only carrier that has signal at my home.

i don't see how $99 is any better than before, because you still have to sign up for a plan. using at&t for example ($150 on amazon now), a family plan of four S5's will cost $600 out of pocket and $260 each month for a 10gb plan. i signed up last month and got the same plan, $400 in rebates, and only had to pay tax out of pocket.

Sprint wasn't bad with my Flex or the couple S5s my clients got. It was $0 out the door, no activation, everybody is getting those darn free tablets and switching them to the $5 placeholder plan...Four phones part of a group of eight, 1GB data on two and unlimited on the other two, four 'free' tablets with $5 placeholders, 0 interest upgrade-anytime-by-paying-off on the phones. A little under 200 a month separating out the phone installments, since your example was also for buying phone at full price. People hardly ever pay a penny leaving the shops around here, but they seem to be selling enough Otterboxes and other $60-100 garbage accessories to make quota. :/

The only problem is that Sprint is terrible in large regions of the country, so don't get baited by their promos until you know what service you would be getting.

Amazon...well the carrier shops are okay, but some folks have gotten burned by fake Note 3s and similar nonsense. Be careful about phones sold as unlocked, some are international and lack USA or European LTE bands....and some are just counterfeits.

    Yup,

Sprint is not too good for my co-worker buddy. He gets a lot of dead spots while my Verizon keeps chugging along.

My girlfriend bought hers yesterday and Verizon just did this sale today. The lady at the Verizon store called her while we were at dinner tonight just to let her know this and let her know she credited her card.

    Awesome!

Usually before a release you pay the store a little extra to guarantee they will keep a device to sell to you on release (usually for 24 hours).
