(assuming the phone is in a area where Verizon has deployed XLTE)

Thanks!

OK I am in the list of cities but, how do I know by looking at my phone if it is using it ?

Easiest way is a speed test.. If you're getting real high numbers chances are you're using it... Not the most accurate way but that's one way.

Another way is to use an app from the store... They may work or they may not. Verizon usually blocks this information.

I've been using Verizon 4G LTE in my area since late 2012. 99% of the time when I do speed tests, I get 20mbps or better. I do speed tests every week or two and always got the same result, no matter what time of the day.

Does this mean my phone will see 40mbps when XLTE is in use? :)

What? Why Worry?

as someone once said.

you can't do anything about it, but you can do a speed test.

My S5 out in the thick wooded areas of bum luck eegypt will do 24.5 mips.

I think that is great, especially since my high dollar Digital Subscriber Luckless Line will only do 10.5 mips on my wonderful home internet circuit....

when a phone is faster than the "wide-band internet", that is doing something....

I'm 50 miles from the nearest major town of any size in north eastern Oklahoma Indian Territory. Yup, it is still owned and run by the Indians. Don't believe it? Look at the name of every casino in Oklahoma.
