Default Lag when moving phone away from face to hangup call

Anyone else noticed that when you move the phone away from your face to hangup a call it takes about 2 seconds for the screen to wake up? Is there an adjustment I haven't found yet. Just came over from iPhone.

Exactly my problem. It's super annoying and can be downright embarrassing when I forget I didn't end the call but made remarks about caller )
What's up with that? I have also switched from iPhone that was really fast. When I tested the proximity sensor it responded really fast.

    I rest my case.

Mine does the same, it takes a second or two for the display to return. If it's causing you an issue and you want to end calls quicker, you can set the power button to end calls. Go into your call settings and you can turn on that feature.

    Same problem recently.
only thing i really changed around the time it started happening was i installed a blackout screen saver app. I uninstalled it and now it works like it used to.

my battery was draining quickly and the same delay with ending a call started happening when I turned my phone side ways. It would take sometimes up to 10 seconds for the screen to switch.
I ended up doing a factory data reset which did not fix the delay when trying to hang up on calls. but it did seem to help the battery and switching to landscape view. Another problem to add to this is sometimes my camera will open up to a black frozen screen with the touch screen buttons appearing. I don't really know what to do next except taking my chances and bring it to the store I bought it at 6 months ago

The first thing to look at is how much stuff is running in the background, eating up CPU and RAM, on your phone and slowing it down. Certain carriers for instance, specialise in performance draining bloatware... such as Verizon and AT&T.

Go to... Settings > Application manager > Running... to see what is causing the lags. Some of te stuff you can disable as per #1.9 of S5 Lollipop Update Problems - Dummies Guide

Thanks Ironass, that link should come with the phone! It didn't fix all my problems but I learned a lot.
After going to a store and wasting my time I called Verizon. Tier 1 and 2 tech support checked a couple things out on their end. They basically said I did everything already that they would try, like a factory reset and verizon repair. They offered me a replacement since it's under 1 year and I went for it. Maybe better luck with this one

    Good luck Zorrak!

Verizon needs to do 3 things to cut down on the unbelievable number of problems associated with their version of Lollipop...

    1. Stop messing with the Lollipop firmware and let Samsung take over. (see #1.6 of 40 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide)

    2. Stop cramming in so much performance and battery draining carrier bloatware. This was the purpose of their original, unique, 2 stage update for Lollipop.

    3. Update the oh so old pre release version of Lollipop they use, which lacks a lot of the features and a whole host of bugfixes that the worldwide models enjoy. (see post #1 of Lollipop release. Massive update!!!)

Most Verizon users think that everyone's Lollipop update is the same as theirs and do not know that their version of Lollipop is nothing like the other 300+ firmwares that Samsung have released, so far, worldwide.

What a great post! I'm on Verizon and it just kills me to know that I'm stuck on such a compromised system. Having said that, I consider myself fortunate to be having a relatively decent experience with my Verizon S5. I still think that's because I performed the factory reset after the "update." I don't have my hopes up, but I sure wouldn't mind seeing a legit update come along for this phone some time in the future.
