    Default Verizon GS5 battery problems

I got my GS5 about 2 weeks ago and the battery has not been good compared to what I've been reading on the forums. I know typically a full day's analysis is wanted but i just wanted to post what I've been experiencing.

My phone has been unplugged for 45 minutes and I've lost 4% battery. I've downloaded MacroDroid but I want to know if there's an issue with my device before I start getting into battery saver apps. I have gmail, FB, twitter, instagram installed and I use them randomly during the day since I work. Primarily during the work days I have my gmail sync up. I've done two factory resets and it doesn't seem to be fixing anything. I disabled all the verizon and samsung bloatware but it doesn't seem to be doing much. At present I have WiFi, location, mobile data and sync enabled. Everything else is disabled, included the power saving. I want to see if its my battery or device that isn't working before I go the power saving route.

    Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! I see that on a few of those screens, you only have 1 bar of reception. Even thought the Time without Signal is 0, weak signal can still be a strain on the battery. How is the battery life when you're in an area with good reception?

My reception is 2-3 bats mostly. I was curious if the cell signal should match the off charge time

The problem is the low 3G signal. The android operating system must be searching for better reception.

This is my usage and I'm at 16%. I went to bed last night at 11 and the battery was at 51%. I woke at 5:30 and it was at 22%. From that time until I arrived at work at 7 it was at 16%. Is this normal? I know my cell reception isn't great where I live but should it drain that fast? Is this something that should be brought back to Verizon, maybe I have a defective phone? Thanks again for your input!

I contacted Verizon and was told that the cell signal shouldn't drain the battery that quickly so they're sending a new one since its within 30 days. Hopefully it was a glitch and the new one works like most people's. Thanks for the replies.

A coworker of mine has the S5 active through AT&T and she gets a steady 3 bars of service and I sit next to her and I'm only getting 1-2 bars. Her battery lasts all day with similar usage. I hope this new one is not a dud too!

Yeah, that's way too much drainage. Glad that they're sending you a replacement. For reference, check out this guide for tips on battery saving: http://forums.androidcentral.com/amb...ving-tips.html. Also, it would be interesting to test out the current battery--remove it, place it flat on a table, and try to spin it. If it spins freely, it's bulging in the middle, which is a bad sign and suggests a defective battery.
