Texts saying Sending but never going thru

Am connected to wifi but texts are just sitting churning and says sending but are not being delivered. Turned phone off and back on but didn't help. Any ideas on a fix? Thanks in advance.

SMS goes thru the 1x (or better) DATA channel, unless your carrier specifically supports WiFi service.

If your phone is not registered to a carrier, it won't send SMS.

ie, my phone normally has both WiFi and Data turned off to conserve battery power...

but SMS messages work just fine. It is part of the basic 1x service for a cellphone, and that does not require 3g/4g service.

Unless you want to use Skype's service via WiFi.
