So I was all set to buy an S5 today at a Best Buy, when something went wrong with the Verizon system, and I could not complete the purchase! The issue arose as to whether to go the Verizon Edge route. The Best Buy guy made it sound like it was a no brainer to do Verizon Edge. Agree, disagree?

Verizon Edge is basically like the old AT&T days with your house landline, you don't own the phone and you pay a fee, like $18-$25 a month (depending on the phone) to use the phone and it also allows you to get a new phone every 18 months I believe (I forgot the duration time).

Do the edge. You get discount on your access line (the amount depends on how much you pay - for example if you are on the 10 or higherhigher you get $25) that offsets the cost of the phone. In my case, I broke even after getting the s5 for $25 /month
