Why did my phone turn off and not turn back on?

So, I have never really had a problem with my phone other than recently the battery life has been pretty bad all of a sudden (I think it's my charger) , anyways I was outside taking a picture on my phone and as soon as it took the picture the screen went black and it was completely unresponsive, tried turning it on, reset, nothing worked. I took the battery out and back in and It turned on, BUT then my time and date was completely wrong and for some reason since the time and date was wrong it made my internet not work. What happened? :-[

ALSO! The picture turned out ... weird... half of it is grey?

The battery is too low.

put the phone on charge and leave it alone for a couple hours
