Why doesn't my wireless charger charge to 100?

why doesnt my wireless charger charge to 100%

If I place the s5 on my samsung charging pad over night it reads between 70% and 85% by morning!
Could it be because it automatically switches off when it reaches 100% and then starts to drain?

You'd better sit up and watch it!

Easier, and just as instructive, would be to check your battery stats in the morning. They will reveal the charging progress of the phone, and whether it ever reaches 100%, and also what is responsible for any used charge thereafter.
