Can I create a shortcut for locking my device?

I don't want the side standby button to lock my device EVERY time I press it, and sometimes I can't wait 5/10/15 minutes for the device to lock itself.

Like on a blackberry, Alt+K would manually lock the phone.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can use an app from the Play Store. My favourite is Screen Off and Lock.

This way you can create a shortcut. If you use a launcher as Nova you can even set a gesture to lock your phone.

+1 for Screen Off and Lock, I have used it on all of my Android devices...handy and saves the wear and tear of the power switch...

Many thanks! I downloaded Screen Off and Lock and it works great! (I tried setting a gesture for it in Nova but the response wasn't always repeatable).

Glad it helped.

With Nova I use the swipe up gesture and it works great. Have you set any animation in the Screen Off app? Try the default one just in case.
