Galaxy S5 Fingerprint Scanner Not Working

Hi,
I have a Verizon Galaxy S5, and I want to use the fingerprint scanner. I added my fingerprint and set a backup password, and then it said "An error has occurred with the fingerprint sensor. If this message appears repeatedly, restart your device." I tried restarting, and this didn't fix it. My fingerprint doesn't work, and the backup password that I set doesn't work either. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks.

I have the same issue. I read it's a software issue and a factory reset will fix it. I didn't feel like erasing my phone and I'm hoping a software update will soon fix it.
