Why do I have a black background in Lollipop?

Several weeks ago I upgraded and wound up with the white background. Today, my wife upgraded and her phone kept the black background. Is there any way I can get the black back?

Does your wife also have an S5 on the same carrier?

Yes, Verizon. But, now there is more to the story. She kept getting notifications to upgrade and finally did yesterday. The phone showed success for the download. However, upon closer examination the phone still shows Android 4.4.4, not lollipop. We have no idea what the "upgrade" was.

Check for an update again on her phone. The lollipop update on Verizon actually requires two separate downloads and installations.
