S5 Lollipop Stability (At&T) Experiences

Hi folks,
I'm a bit of a cheapskate and refuse to upgrade to the latest niche flagship (S6 Active), but I still like a smooth Android experience. Currently, I'm using a 2014 Moto X and loving the 5.1 Lollipop experience, but the lackluster camera, short battery life and the lack of waterproofing has me discontent. And yet, I'm reluctant to switch to the S5 as I've heard plenty of rumors about its instability since then Lollipop updates (not to mention the M updates lurking on the horizon).

How have your experiences with the S5 since the most recent Lollipop updates been?

What do you think of buying a secondhand S5 this late in the product's life?

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

Mine on AT&T has been rock steady, and no issues at all. I handed it over to my wife 3 weeks ago and am now using an S6 Active. If necessary, I would have no problem going back to the S5.

My concern about a second hand S5....lots of stolen S5 models around, especially on fleabay. Would certainly make sure with AT&T that it is free and clear of any contracts or other encumbrances.
