Samsung Galaxy S5 Hard Reset

My phone did a hard reset the other day while in my pocket. Given that this is an ATT Samsung Galaxy S5, have I truly lost all of my data? Or is there a way for me to retrieve at the least my pictures?

I am a newbie to this forum so I apologize in advance if I am asking a question that perhaps was already answered but I did attempt my own research and it appears that the answer varies, depending on where I look.

Any help would be appreciated.
