Version message plus problem

I absolutely hate the messaging app that was pre-installed for the s5. With that being said my message plus app completely stopped working leaving me no choice but to use the pre-installed app.
The app let's me get into messages but when I click on the text box to type the key board doesn't show up. The "+" button and "microphone " button are grey as well. I've cleared the clache, data. And forced stop on the app AND key board.
Someone willing to help me out???

Have you set the default messaging app to be the default app instead of messages plus? Go to your settings menu and choose language and input, check which app is set to default.
