S5 T-Mobile updates

I'm currently using the S5 on T-Mobile... I still have the stock version of Lollipop that came with it when I purchased it in May which was 5.0. Now there is an update button on the screen that randomly appeared and wont go away. If I choose to update it, will it go to the next version up of android or just the latest one available from my carrier? Im kind of scared to because I heard lots of bad things lollipop 5.1

The next update is to 5.1.1 is that the information you're looking for? The 6.0 update is still in development.

Not exactly. So if i chose to update my phone thats the version it would go to? It wouldnt go to 5.0.1 or something like that? Im afraid to do anything with it because of how many different issues people have had.

Well how the heck do I get rid of this stupid message and icon at the top corner for the update? It appeared over night the other day and hasnt left since.

There's a thread somewhere about disabling the update package. If I find it, I will post.
