How do I delete the verizon voicemail app from my samsung s5 phone?

I bought a refurbished Samsung s5 from Amazon that was supposed to be unlocked but the Verizon app for voice mail and also several other Verizon apps are still loaded on the phone. I would like to get rid of all the Verizon apps but especially the one that is preventing me from setting up a voicemail account with my new service provider Consummer Cellular.

Hi and welcome to AndroidCentral.

The device is indeed unlocked, but it is still branded to Verizon. You may disable the Verizon apps, but those apps cannot be uninstalled without rooting the device. Root might not even be possible. That depends on the device model and version of Android it is running.
