Why won't my Micro USB port charge?

Micro USB port won't charge

This is for a Samsung Galaxy S5. The phone says that there is an error in charging and to check to make sure it is connected properly. It is not an issue with the charger or cord. Multiple one have been attempted. Someone tried to change out their charging port with a new one that was meant for Sprint, but their phone is AT&T specific. I replaced it with one meant for their carrier, but the charger still won't work properly. Is there any way a charging port for Sprint could damage the logic board for an AT&T Galaxy s5?

Re: Micro USB port won't charge

No, but the charging circuit in the phone could have gone bad, and that could have been the initial cause of the problem.
