Code *#9900# is not being accepted by the phone

I'm trying to get into the utility to clean up my log files and reclaim same storage space. I see from the posts here, that *#9900# should be the code to use to get there. But how do you get the phone to recognize that a code is entered?

I enter the code on the keypad, and nothing happens. The code is displayed on the keypad but, nothing. I hit the dial button and Verizon tells me it's not a valid number {duh...}. Do you have to do anything to initiate the code and the resulting action? What, exactly?

It's a Samsung Galaxy S5 from Verizon reporting Android version 5. The phone is not rooted (nor do I wish to do so), so the relevant log file directories appear as empty to utilities like ES file explorer.

Welcome to the forums. Can you show screenshots of the storage stats, please?

Verizon, in their infinite wisdom, remove a lot of service codes from their modified firmware releases.
