Is there a way to get into my Galaxy S5 without knowing the alternative password?

Is there a way to get into my galaxy s5 without knowing the alternative password.

My friend took my phone and tried the fingerprint scanner too many times and now only asks for the alternative password. The finger print scanner works perfectly for me but is there anyway it will let me use my fingerprint or will it just keep asking for the alternative?
