Android S6 Edge. Screen is black with blinking blue light.

Screen is black with a blue light flashing every 5 seconds? I plugged it in but no difference. Worked fine last night. What. Could be the cause?

Welcome to Android Central!

Try holding the power button and volume down button until the phone turns off. Try powering it back up and see what happens.

Im having the same problem, I only received the phone yesterday had a little look and wireless charged it through the night. Woke up and the screen was black with a flashing blue light? Ive turned it off through the above instructions (Thank you!!! :D ) But do you know why it happens?

Same thing happens to me. Happens every so often actually (maybe once 1-2 times week). Black screen with blinking blue light and no buttons respond. Anyone might know what's wrong and if there is a fix?

When this happens, I restart by pressing down all buttons - volume up, volume down, home, and power - then it restarts and works again.

Haaaa I just saw my S6 Edge on my TYLT charger and noticed the dreaded blue light and was like OH OH and remebered this thread !??!

I turned around and powered up my laptop and went straight to this thread to try all the above and wow it worked !! However what and why would this happened since it doesnt seem as if there's been an answer ??

First time it's happened to me and hopefully the last !?!?

It just locks up from time to time like a computer or tablet does.

I had the black screen blue light blinking thing happen to me as well about 2 weeks ago. Had no clue what was wrong. Took the phone off the wireless charger and ...nothing! Remembered the trick on holding power and down volume buttons at same time to restart. That worked and I have had no problems with phone since then.

Fantastic, the black screen happened last night. I did a google search this morning and this link came up. Bingo first shot and got the fix! I am so impressed I joined. Thanks ever so much

I finally got mine to stop thanks to another post on this board. Go to settings then assesabilty then to notifications reminder turn it on then off again and like magic the light never blinked again lol

Hey I did what you said and it worked !! Thank goodness. I have had my phone now for a little over two months and this is the first time is has done this. I hope its not a reoccurring thing :-( . But thank you again for the info !! :-)

In the Notification Reminder setting in accessibility area in the personal tab of the settings, if you have the notification setting turned on and have the selected the method of notification to be by LED it says it will turn on and blink the blue LED when there have been missed calls, unread messages, or application notifications while the screen is turned off. This is what triggers, the blue LED. As for the phone being turned off while the blue LED is active, I can only conjecture that the remaining battery level may have been the trigger for that.

Please guys my samsung s6 edge was working fine, i just went to get my clear coat today and i collected my phone back , it was perfect. i got home slept woke up, check my phone, was still fine. I bought a samsung r7 speaker so i turned it on to install on my phone. i check my phone its blinking like a white or blue light and screen is dark, no response. I call the phone, call goes through but it isnt ringing or trigger the phone screen to wake but means service is still on phone. I tried all kinds of hard restart, all types i know multiple times, no fix. is there anything i can do, in the worst case scenario, how do i get to flash it if that seems to be the only fix. thanks

Hi,

I just received my phone today. As I turned it on the battery was at 38 percent. I thought "oh well, so what if it is a returned item. As long it works like a new one" and started the setup process. Just as I had gotten through a few steps the phone went into black mode with LED light every five seconds.

Then I found this great thread, held the power button and volume button down for about 20 sec, and the phone is now turned on, but with 8 percent battery. While I am now charging the device, I just wanted to add another successful story to the thread. Although there is not much success story in running into problems like this when one buy a new smartphone. It just starts off with the wrong impression and feelings about the phone.

Anyway, I am thankful for all the people involved in this thread.

I have the issue,i triedt he fixand it worked however no sound no call volume no anything....rebooted the device....now stuck in the blacks creen and blue blinking light now its really stuck nothing is waking this thing up....brand new gs6 128gb help!!

Try holding the power button and volume down button at the same time until the phone powers off. Try powering it back up and see what happens. It worked for me, twice.:)
