My GS7 EDGE running MM is encrypted by default. My question is, when I downloaded the MM update on my GS6 EDGE, did it automatically encrypt that phone or do I still have to do it manually?

I'm pretty sure you'd still have to manually encrypt the phone. An easy way to tell would be to try selecting None for screen lock. An encrypted phone won't allow you to do this--you have to use either password or PIN. Exceptions to this rule include devices that are encrypted by default, like the Nexus 6 and 6P--it is possible to select None for screen lock on those phones. That may also be the case for the S7 edge.

Ok, thats what threw me. With my S7 EDGE, I do have that option. Will I still be able to use my fingerprint sensor do you know?

You're asking about the fingerprint sensor on the S6 edge, right? Sorry, but I don't know.
