Coming from iPhones, I think this is awesome. While the swipe method has worked for me, it's not as accurate.

Agreed, iPhone touch ID works pretty good but it does lag before it accepts your finger print.
Hopefully the S6 will be better.

I wonder. Do we really even care? It could be a gerbil on a wheel. I just want to see a solution that works as well and as easily as Apple's.

They are probably using the technology from Fingerprints, similar to what other android manufactuers with touch ID have done.

Having used Touch ID on both the 5S and 6+, I've never had it lag once. Even when it was just announced. The Samsung finger swipe thing? It barely worked when I got my s5. Subsequent updates from Verizon and Samsung fixed that but still it doesn't work with the anywhere near the reliability of Touch ID. For whatever reason, the Samsung print reader seems to work better on my s5 than my Note 4.
