The people with iPhones need to make sure they have their phones set to send as a SMS if iMessage isn't available. That setting is not on by default.

Make sure if you own an iPad or anything else that iMessage and FaceTime are off.

Delete the problematic threads (you and the other participants) and when they are deleted off of everyone's phones restart them.

When I use to switch back and forth between Android and iOS I had to deal with this all the time. Apple has made it very hard for people to switch to Android (a total accident, I'm sure 😛) with iMessage. You would think simply turning off iMessage would be enough but it rarely works that way.

I haven't had any issues with calls. I am still having issues with my texts. I don't know what else to do. At the store they told me, don't worry they will fix it. But they don't even know what the problem is. I've been sending test texts and I'm still not receiving responses from people who have called & said they responded. I may give it another day before I go back to the store & demand a new phone.

Hey I just read through this thread after finding it in a search. I am having the same problem. But I am having it using a sony z3. My wife and I both bought the same phone and it happens not only from sending and recieving texts with her but also with friends using samsungs and blackberries.

I will keep an eye on this thread and post here if I find out what it is. But its enough already getting responses late or having people think I did not reply to them. Yesterday my wifes phone beeped while we were watching tv. She checked it and said "It's from you!" So I looked through the message thread on my phone and confirmed I sent it almost a week earlier!

Which Carrier? Have you, your wife or both used Ultra Power Saving Mode or maybe other apps like Greenify?

I'm asking simply because the main reason why I don't use Ultra Power Saving Mode and/or apps like Greenify is because of bad experiences in the past with similar issues like the ones you described, for some reason when I use Ultra Power Saving Mode basically I need to reboot the device in order to get back to normal to receive Gmail and other apps like Whatsapp. The times I've tried Greenify, as soon as I used any Hibernation option then there was no incoming SMS until I reboot, then all of them begin to appear one by one.

About the carrier, simply because we have a local provider that is well known to have huge issues with messages, mostly MMS, so that can be always an issue.

I too am having problems with text messages. I used to have an iPhone and switched to Samsung Galaxy s5 through AT&T. I turned imessage off of my device right after I got it. I am still randomly not receiving texts and people are randomly not getting mine. It is so frustrating!! Sometimes I can tell its happening because I will get 3 duplicate messages from the same person at the same time. That's when I restart my phone. After a few minutes of restarting my phone I will receive all of the messages people were sending and wondering why I wasn't responding to all at once.
Has anyone had success with this:
For last, the only thing you can try in your phone, IF it's a phone or App issue, is go to your Settings-Applications Manager-ALL and look for the Messages App and clear Cache and data and Force Stop it and then go back and try again to see, for a better experience and to enjoy the benefit of the Android OS where you don't need to get stuck with apps and you can switch to replace any original app in the phone, even main ones
I don't want to do this if it doesn't fix the problem.
I still just cannot believe that this is such a big problem that no one can seem to fix. I love my phone but I use texting so much with my new clients. It's so bad for my business when I have to say, "If I don't reply, it's because I might not be getting your texts."
Someone has to have the solution, right?!

I am so happy I found this thread, I'm having the same problems described here. Switched from iPhone to galaxy s6 edge and have had nothing but problems. I sometimes will get or send two or three copies of the exact same text. I don't get texts until hours kater , sometimes not at all. My boyfriend will text me back and I won't get it for hours but they will be time stamped for when he sent them. I have imessgae turned off, and so does he. What is going on??

I switched to Android about a year ago from an iPhone. At 1st I was having issues with text messages due to the whole I message thing. About 6 weeks ago or so I started having issues sending & receiving text messages on my Galaxy S5. I would send my wife a picture & sometimes she would get it 4 days later, sometimes she would never get it. Friends would send texts to me & I would either never get it or get it days later (not always a picture). I upgraded to the S6, had some battery issues...finally got that resolved but now I'm having text message issues. Anyone else experiencing this? I'm wondering if it's a lollipop issue. I really like this phone but it really stinks not getting texts or not having people getting my texts.

I was using power saving mode at the time. I have stopped since my battery lasts 4 days without it and have also had a few system updates. The problem is gone now. I think the power saving mode was what might have been causing it but I'm not sure.

The z3 is the most worst and most bloated phone I've ever had. The battery life is the only thing that makes it valuable. A bad phone is better than a dead phone!

So I have a similar issue also. Some of my texts send and some do not or sometimes just gets sent hours or days later. Big long messages never send for hours on end and sometimes so do little ones. Ironically, sometimes pictures send faster than texts. The only difference is that I have never been an iPhone user nor has the person I've been sending texts to. I always figured it was just an android issue that's difficult to fix. I just love androids too much I would never give up an android for an iPhone even if some of my texts don't send haha. Although it is an issue I would love to be fixed I just don't know how to or if there is in fact a way to.

Did they actually re provision your phone? I mean it should have only taken a few minutes at worst. When they provision, your phone will turn off and back on automatically. Did that happen? Because it sounds to me it's a network issue and all a provision does is reset the phone to the network. Are you in a fringe coverage area?

I am having this problem. Did you ever get a helpful answer?

Also having same issue but I believe it's a carrier problem. I have S6 on Verizon and wife has iPhone on AT&T and she does not receive texts from me but I receive messages sent from her. All other texts between myself and friends using verizon and other carriers seems to work fine. So I think it is an ATT specific problem.

I am having issues receiving text most of the time. I have Sprint, and it is not a phone issue. I am using my Note 4. I had the same issue when I had the Note 7, and the Note 7 recall. I have been having the same issue for over 6 months. I have a tech specialist who keeps saying it's the network, the tower in my area. I have been with Sprint since 1998, and they just don't care. Why can't they get over here, and correct the issue? I run two small home-based businesses, and this is irritating my clients. Since I work at home this is what I have to deal with. So I had to use Google Voice as a backup for text messaging because Sprint will not do what they need to do to fix the problem. I just noticed on yesterday when I was using the app "Join" from my computer, a text popped up, but the same text did not appear on my phone. It is also not on the Join app. Does anyone have any clue on what is going on?
